Interlocking foam tiles are cheap for a reason. The seams collect crumbs, the edges lift, and a mat thin enough to roll up usually means the floor is doing most of the work when a toddler lands on it.

This baby play mat is one piece, 200 x 140cm, and 4cm thick, which is more than double the usual play room mat. The surface is waterproof and wipes down, and it folds inwards on itself so the side a child plays on is the side that stays clean.

It folds inwards, so dust has nowhere to sit Most folding mats close face outwards and leave a crease that collects everything. This one folds the play side in on itself, a structure Ggumbi has patented. There is no crevice down the fold.

An anti-bacterial coating on the surface The play surface carries an anti-bacterial coating, rated 99.9% against germs and bacteria. It is on the side a child lies on, crawls over and puts their face against.



Waterproof, so spills stay on top The surface does not absorb, so milk, juice and whatever else lands on it wipes off with a cloth rather than soaking in. It is anti-slip underneath, so it stays where you put it on a hard floor.

Non-cross-linked PE foam, no glue in the build The foam is formed by thermal compression rather than bonded with adhesive, so there is no glue layer inside the mat. It is the reason this type of foam is used for babies.


Sized to both Ggumbi play pens The High-Guard Playpen and the Baby Room Play Pen are both built around this mat. One mat fills the smaller size of either. Two fill the larger.

Use and care

There is nothing to assemble. Unroll it on a flat floor and let it settle for a few hours if it has been packed folded. Follow the instructions manual for placement and any age guidance.

Wipe the surface with a damp cloth and dry it. The foam does not absorb, so spills do not need to soak. When you fold it, fold the play side inwards, which is what the structure is designed for and what keeps the surface clean in storage.

Flat floor

Anti slip pads need an even surface. Thick pile rugs let the frame rock.

Clear the edges

Keep climbable furniture away, and check what a standing child can reach over.

Fit the band first

Band to the connector on the inside, then the mat. This is what stops gaps opening.

Still supervise

A playpen buys minutes, not permission to leave the room. See Safety First.

Before you buy

Questions we get asked

Does the playpen come with the mat?

No. They are sold separately and sized to pair. The playpen is the fence, the Licoco mat is the floor.

Which size do I need?

200 × 140cm takes one Licoco mat, 200 × 280cm takes two. The table above has the footprints in feet.

Will it slide on hardwood?

The connectors carry anti slip pads with a wide contact area. On the larger layout the anti loosening band makes a noticeable difference.

Can a toddler open the door?

The door uses a double lock button that has to be gripped and held rather than pushed.

How do I clean it?

Wipe with a damp cloth and dry it. Neither the PE frame nor the mat surface absorbs spills.
