A newborn needs somewhere soft and enclosed. A one year old needs somewhere to crawl. A three year old needs neither, and by then most of what you bought is in the garage.

This is a bumper bed that takes all three stages. A 189 x 140cm foam base, 5cm thick, with two guard walls that make it an enclosure while you need one. The guards come off later and become a child's sofa, and the cover for that is in the box.

49cm guards, 5cm of mat, Velcro instead of zips The guards stand 49cm on the outside and 44cm on the inside, shown as 50cm in the graphic. The mat under them is 5cm. The panels fasten with Velcro rather than zips, so there is no zip pull for small fingers to find.

The guards become a sofa, and the cover is included When the walls stop earning their place, the two guard mats convert into a child's sofa and the base stays on as a play mat. The Baby Sofa Cover comes in the box, which is not true of every size in this range.

Quieter for the flat below Impact noise through the floor was measured with the mat down and without it, by the Korea Noise and Vibration Technology Institute under KOLAS accreditation. If you are in an apartment, this is the feature you will notice first.


A fence can go around it later Once a baby pulls up to standing, the soft walls stop being a boundary. The High-Guard Playpen 189 x 140 is built to enclose this exact mat, and the Lucky Star Baby Room is the original version of the same idea. A quilted cotton pad goes on top if you want a softer surface.

Assembly and care

No tools. The mats lay out and the guards fasten with Velcro, so it goes together and comes apart in minutes. That also means you can move it between rooms, or take the guards off for a while and put them back. Follow the instructions manual for placement, clearances and any age guidance.

Wipe with a damp cloth and dry it. The surface does not absorb, so nothing needs to soak. Avoid solvents and abrasive pads, since the coating is the layer doing the work.

Anti slip pads need an even surface. Thick pile rugs let the frame rock.

Clear the edges

Keep climbable furniture away, and check what a standing child can reach over.

Fit the band first

Band to the connector on the inside, then the mat. This is what stops gaps opening.

Still supervise

Before you buy

Questions we get asked

Does the playpen come with the mat?

No. They are sold separately and sized to pair. The playpen is the fence, the Licoco mat is the floor.

Which size do I need?

200 × 140cm takes one Licoco mat, 200 × 280cm takes two. The table above has the footprints in feet.

Will it slide on hardwood?

The connectors carry anti slip pads with a wide contact area. On the larger layout the anti loosening band makes a noticeable difference.

Can a toddler open the door?

The door uses a double lock button that has to be gripped and held rather than pushed.

How do I clean it?

Wipe with a damp cloth and dry it. Neither the PE frame nor the mat surface absorbs spills.
